Confession: writing up concise blurbs of extracurricular activities has me stressed and snacking on Starbursts. Now I know why people say to do your dream school app last. I'm going to be fat with cavities by the end of September.

i started binge eating on unhealthy amounts of sour patch kids and sour skittles. at the library now working on essays and my stomach hurts from the three packs i ate this morning. totally understand what you mean...

Went to a Stanford MBA Program Alumni Briefing in my city the other night - found it very helpful. First, the panel was held in McKinsey's office, which was very cool to see, since I've never seen that. There were 3 women on the panel, and they went through a quick slide show explaining what Stanford is about, what they enjoyed, etc. Later, they opened it up for an informal Q&A, and helped provide insight into their experiences at GSB.

Overall, it was a cool experience. I highly recommend attending one in your city/nearby city if you can.

Is anyone else having a problem pasting text into the application? I like to type everything up in Word (even the short answers) and then paste them directly into the app but it's not working. I can paste elsewhere but not in the text boxes with the character limits.

Also, sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. It's kinda frustrating.

In my experience:
1. Pasting doesn't work if what you are trying to paste is over the char limit. You can try pasting the first 80% of the words, and then type in the rest to see where you hit the char limit
2. Pasting doesn't work if there's already text inside the box. You should delete everything before re-pasting.

The 185-character limits are ridiculous--barely longer than a tweet.

Basically. There goes any explanation of my leadership positions/progression in an organization.

No lie, I replaced "and" with "&" in order to squeeze some extra characters in. During my sugar high, I mused if this might ding me.

This might be a dumb question, but in the Activities section, where you fill out when you started an activity and when you ended it. If i'm still involved in mine present day, do I leave the "To" field blank? It doesn't seem to let you write in "Present" and you can only write in a date. Or am I suppose to put today's date?

And a second question. When the application "how many people does your organization employ" under employment history, am I to take that has "how many employees work for this company in total?" or as "how many employees worked in your office/division." So for example, if I worked for a Wealth Management team of 7 people for Merrill Lynch, would I report 7, or would I report the total amount of Merrill Lynch employees?

Is it just me, or is Stanford's online app uniquely frustrating to complete???

The tiny character counts, the wonky copy/paste functions, the crazy file restrictions for transcript uploading, having to ask my parents for their personal educational histories (they couldn't even remember the years--they had to look it up), having to separate out internships from activities...I spent all of college doing seven different internships, but I can only include two under the part-time employment section so it looks like I did nothing in college! Ughhhhhh

For people who haven't submitted yet, be careful when reading the essay instructions. I made it the right size, right font and right line spacing, but FORGOT ABOUT THE PAGE NUMBERS. I don't know how I missed it, and I'm reminding others not to make the same mistake.

Hopefully this small oversight won't affect my application.

Heeks - I completely agree. At first I somewhat appreciated their desire for brevity, but then as I was filling out the form, I just became more and more frustrated with the character restrictions.

So, I applied last year R2 and was waitlisted. I pulled up my old application to check on a few dates and realized at the top it says "Application for Fall 2014." Did I actually apply for the wrong year and get waitlisted for Fall 2013? Do they even let you apply an entire year early? I know it doesn't matter now but I'm just so confused... As a re-applicant I'm making sure to dot all I's and cross all T's...
