Desperate need of some advice

Hi,

I desperately need some advice here.

I recently wrote GMAT and scored a 600. My undergrad GPA is 2.6/4 and I am a software professional with 2.5 years of experience.

I was planning to apply in round 2 for US schools but it doesn't seem possible now cause I don't think i'll get a top 50 school with those credentials. At the same time, I'm confused whether i should apply next year (which would be late) or rewrite gmat in another 1-2 months.

I am open to any other country, with a decent school. But can someone please advice when should i rewrite GMAT and apply to which schools, given that i want to join a decent school in fall 2014 anywhere in the world. :cry:

A lot of EU schools will take a 600. Have a look at said, HEC.

Sorry to hear the GMAT was not what you had wanted. I'm not sure I'm entirely following your question, when you said apply next year but that might be "late"? Do you mean in terms of your age /experience?

Generally it's not a bad idea to re-take the exam as your highest score is what counts, and it's common to try again if needed, and if anything it shows determination. So if you are able to , no matter when you apply, I'd encourage it.

Otherwise check the average scores at schools you are applying to. I would aim most for schools around a 600-620 average, with a reach school or two with an average of 650 approx. GMAT scores are available on each school's website; listed on the US News & World Report rankings; on the BusinessWeek.com school profiles.... Let us know how else we can help.

Thanks for the advice Jen, Im wondering if I should apply in round 3 after writing GMAT once again and expect an admit with some scholarship in a top 50 school.

Is it possible to apply for the winter, spring intake of 2014-15, keeping my profile in mind and expect some scholarships?

Hi there,

I would keep in mind that MBA scholarships are not extremely common....those given are generally offered to the top applicants, particularly in terms of GMAT/GPA, so while you could certainly gain acceptance at a reputable program, it would be less likely to receive scholarships, particularly at a top 50 school. Most MBA students pay for b-school with low-interest rate educational loans paid back by their post-MBA salary, over 5-15 years. I still think a re-take is a good idea as there's not too much to lose, and you could try when you are ready... keep us posted though!
