IMHO(E) is correct.
Intended meaning of the question can be obtained by inverting as follows:
Many people believe that Earth is the only such planet in the universe, due to the enormous coincidence of conditions that must exist to support intelligent life.
Notice the missing link: "only such" beckons a referrent to a certain "group" (in this context "planets"). This group should be mentioned in the following clause as the subject.
A. Does not address the requirement and hence is wrong. Consider if the author were referring to human survival on the sun(which is not a planet), then the sentence: Many people believe that Earth is the only such planet in the universe, due to the enormous coincidence of conditions that must exist on the sun to support intelligent life...would sound non-sensical. Hence, A does not serve the purpose of making this intention clear.
B. 2 mistakes: 1st, the same as A. 2nd. Usage of "for" not correct as conditions must exist in order to support human life. Whwn such a mandatory condition exists, usage of "to" is preferred over "for".
C. and D also repaeat the same error.
E is correct.

IMO E, "Only Such Planet" should refer to something...
