hey guys,

i've been shortlisted for an interview. What were the questions like in your interviews? Also, does anyone know if LBS has ever asked an applicant to retake the gmat with a set minimum score? Cause I assume that my profile in general is quite strong. However, my gmat score is just above their minimum requirement.

I would not be too worried about your GMAT score. As long as you are genuine and can talk about what you can contribute to the LBS community, as well as clear ideas on what you would like to do before, during, and after LBS, you will be fine :)

I am an example of this. I got a 620 on the GMAT and I was accepted to their first cohort of Global MiM!

Good to hear, thanks!
I am currently preparing for the interview and the information I found online says that it is most important to review what you wrote in your essays and the application in general, so that you can talk about your stated career goal etc.
Is there anything else I should particularly focus on? What about typical competency-based questions, like "Tell me about a time when you worked in a team and had problems with..." ?
I'd appreciate any insight from people who already had the interview. Thanks!

Hi!

I want to apply for the MiM sept 2015 intake, I'll quickly sketch my profile:

Belgian, 24 years old

GMAT 750 (Q49 V42 IR 8 AWA 5.0)
B.Sc. in engineering from top-10 European engineering faculty
M.Sc. in engineering from top-10 European engineering faculty

18 months work experience in Fortune-100 company (Honeywell) as a project engineer (I consider this a non-traditional business role, what do you guys think?)

good extracurriculars: Monitor youth movement, classical piano on conservatory level with outstanding grades, play music in bands...

so my problem is: not-so-good gpa in my master's and maybe too much work experience.

Thanks!

What do you think? I finished my essays, but I don't want to spend £90 on the application if I get dinged for my weaker points :-)

Thanks!

you should send ur resume for evaluation by their admissions team, since ive heard theyve told people with more than 12 months experience to wait and apply for an MBA.

Hey all,
So I received my final decision from LBS some time back and I got rejected after an extremely long waiting period on the waitlist :P
Was kind of expecting it, my interview hasn't been that great.
Anyway, thanks to everybody who helped and best of luck to everyone applying in the future !!

Thank you so much.
You've all been extremely helpful.
I have received an admit from HEC, so I'll be firming that in all probability.
All the very best to you and I hope you have a fabulous time in London !

Hi,

I got my interview last week and now I am asked to do a second interview via skype. This should be a shorter one (20 minutes). Is this the standard procedure? Did anyone do this 2nd interview?

Thanks!

Hi all,

I was wondering, are there any international candidates for the 2015 program who are yet to submit their application?
Apparently they have extended the deadline until the 20th of July.

Greetings everyone,

I was hoping someone could share his/her experiences regarding waiting time.
I had my interview with an alumnus 2 weeks ago and haven't heard from the admissions committee since.

Admittedly, patience is not my strongest suit ;-) how long did you guys have to wait after the interview?

Thanks a bunch in advance!

HI Slidemonkey,

about one week after my first interview I was invited for a second one, via skype! But I think it all depends on how busy they are and so on... So I wouldn't bother too much! I don't think that they anounce bad news later than they would announce good news.

cheers

Hi TSgeneral,

Thanks for the reply! I was now also invited to do a follow-up interview via Skype, we'll see how that goes :-) Any tips?

Cheers

Hey guys listing out the experience of my friend's LBS interview, hope it helps in your preparation!

The London Business School (LBS) Maters in Management interviews are usually one on one and are taken by an alumni of the school. One thing to keep in mind is that alumni’s are looking for students who firstly, fit the stringent criteria of LBS and secondly, who will tend to be great networking partners in the near future. Someone who they won’t mind meeting on weekends for a chat and who have the characteristics to prosper in the environment of LBS & the corporate world.

It is easy to forget in your nervousness that these alumni’s were students themselves, and hence perfectly know how you must be feeling. They will be usually less critical of your faults so we suggest don’t be nervous, smile at them, make good eye contact and have an open and frank conversation with them.

Most of the LBS interviews are more of long chats, with the interviewer asking a few key questions and the interviewee answering them in depth. Also these interviews tend to have a number of competency based questions, such as the ones listed below.

So, what kind of questions are asked in a LBS interview??

Here are some questions from an interview of one of our clients:

-So tell me about yourself.
-Why choose LBS?
-Which other colleges are you aiming for?
-How do you think LBS will help you attain your goals
-What are you passionate about?
-Give me some examples of how you have followed you passion
-I read that you have mentioned education quite a few times in your essays, what are your opinions about this industry in your country.
-Tell me about an incident where you led a group of people and what you learnt from it
-What would you do, if you were in a group at LBS where each person is from a different nationality and a different undergrad major? How would you handle them if you were the leader of the group? Especially if the subject is something you aren't familiar with?
-Tell me how will you contribute to your school and your peers?
-Any questions for me?

The interviewer was really nice and friendly, and even remarked that the interviewee will do really well at LBS, if she is selected.

Verdict
She received the acceptance letter in 2 weeks’ time, and was super happy about it!
