Paradox: Statement 1:The researchers found that, in fact, beer contains more chemicals that revitalize hair than does regular shampoo
Statement 2:however, there was a greater incidence of split ends and hair loss in the group that washed their hair with beer.(conclusion)

We have to find new info in which Statement 2 is true even though Statement 1 is valid
Pre think-There may be a situation in which the group which washed their hair with beer had problems already to begin with hence use of beer had no significant effect on them.In this way both the paradox statements balance out each other.

A- Alcohol can be very bad for your Scalp-No where it has been mentioned in the passage about alcohol content hence out of scope
B- Even if one washes one's hair with beer it is important to use conditioner-usage of air conditioner is irrelevant to the passage
C-The group of people in the study who washed their hair with beer were more prone to hair problems to begin with-Similar to pre think step hence correct
D-The study was conducted in rugged coastal areas, where there is heavy wind and salty air-Place of study does not help to resolve the paradox as heavy wind or salty hair would have similar effects on both the study groups.
E-Using excessive amounts of which brand has not been mentioned hence incorrect.

One often hears that beer, because of its particular mixture of sugars and carbohydrates, is good for one's hair. A group of dermatologists decided to examine the validity of this theory by comparing the hair of a group of people who washed their hair with beer to the hair of a group who used regular shampoo. The researchers found that, in fact, beer contains more chemicals that revitalize hair than does regular shampoo; however, there was a greater incidence of split ends and hair loss in the group that washed their hair with beer.

Which of the following, if true, best explains the results obtained by the dermatologists?

A. Alcohol can be very bad for your scalp.

B. Even if one washes one's hair with beer it is important to use conditioner.

C. The group of people in the study who washed their hair with beer were more prone to hair problems to begin with.

D. The study was conducted in rugged coastal areas, where there is heavy wind and salty air.

E. Chemicals that revitalize hair can damage hair if used in excessive amounts.

OA later

Here the paradox is beer contain chemicals that are good for hair in comparison shampoo. Even then the one who uses beer faces more hair related problem.
So, what if the one who uses beer shampoo already faces hair problem since the beginning

A. Incorrect Alcohol can be very bad for your scalp.
Out of scope

B. Incorrect Even if one washes one's hair with beer it is important to use conditioner.
again out of scope, we are not bothered about usages of conditioners

C. CorectThe group of people in the study who washed their hair with beer were more prone to hair problems to begin with.
It matches with out thought

D. Incorrect The study was conducted in rugged coastal areas, where there is heavy wind and salty air.
Again out of scope

E. Incorrect Chemicals that revitalize hair can damage hair if used in excessive amounts.
Excessive amount?? No where in the passage we talked about excessive amount.

Which of the following, if true, best explains the results obtained by the dermatologists?

A. Alcohol can be very bad for your scalp. Incorrect

it may be not bad for hair

B. Even if one washes one's hair with beer it is important to use conditioner. Incorrect

Irrelevant

C. The group of people in the study who washed their hair with beer were more prone to hair problems to begin with. Correct

thats why split ends and hair loss more likely happen to this group

D. The study was conducted in rugged coastal areas, where there is heavy wind and salty air. Incorrect

it is true for both groups

E. Chemicals that revitalize hair can damage hair if used in excessive amounts. Incorrect
