same culture: slurping one’s soup, in Japan a gesture of appreciation for the cook, is unforgivably rude in America.

(A) among different cultures are far greater as that among individuals from - wrong comparison word-Grater as. It should be greater than. That should be those.

(B) among different cultures are far greater than that among individuals from - that should be those. I think both 'individuals from' and 'individuals of' are correct hence this option can not be discarded on this basis only.

(C) among different cultures are far greater than those among individuals of - Correct

(D) between different cultures are far more than that between individuals of - It should be 'Between A & B'. Moreover, between is used for 02 items and Among shall be used for more than 02 items. Also, as misunderstanding is plural therefore reference pronoun that should be those. IMO 'more' is wrong here, as misunderstanding is not an uncountable noun, such as faith or love, for which we use more.

(E) between different cultures are greater by far than is that between individuals from - ''greater by far than is that'' is wordy and clumsy and wrong idiomatically. Also, taht should be those.

OA please......

(A) among different cultures are far greater as that among individuals from

(B) among different cultures are far greater than that among individuals from

(C) among different cultures are far greater than those among individuals of

(D) between different cultures are far more than that between individuals of

(E) between different cultures are greater by far than is that between individuals from

MANHATTAN REVIEW OFFICIAL EXPLANATION:

You are comparing more than two cultures, so you are not going to use the word between. Therefore you can eliminate choices D and E. In choices A and B the singular pronoun ‘that’ incorrectly refers to the plural noun ‘misunderstandings’. Choice A also uses the incorrect expression ‘greater as’. Choice C is the correct answer.
