This will make a very poor example of a GMAT question, logically speaking in these days of significant stress on meaning clarity. First of all, obesity is not an adverse behavior; It is a condition caused by an over-weight of the body; Secondly to state that the combination old age and such adverse conditions will create( meaning certainly) diseases is untenable. One might at best say ‘may create’. Then these diseases are not called epidemics. An epidemic is one that is caused by a fast spreading infection and one that affects a large number of people at the same time. The diseases that the text mentions are called life-style diseases. One of them, the heart failure is not ever - lasting but instantly- killing.
