Hi Guys
I am a R1 Admittee and I can see a few of you have asked for interview advice. I have the following to add:
My interview was over skype - as far as I know there is not option for on campus interviews. I believe the thinking behind this is to be fair to all interviewees.
My advice on the interview. I prepped pretty much all of these : vinceprep (dot) com/interviews/stanford
They tend to use similar questions. My view is to be very strong on post mba goals and also why Stanford and what you can get from and bring to your cohort.
Examples of leading people, your worst failure and greatest success also came up.
In addition might be worth thinking about what your references said about you. Ie. He asked me what faults I thought they may have said.
There is something in being "impatient". They really like that. And don't feel bad to say your current job is not pushing you and you are looking to boost your career. All good things from their point of view imho.
Remember to relax - the interview is mostly about getting to know you and what you will bring to Stanford.
I am from South Africa GMAT: 720 and 12 years in business startups and executive management.
I wish all of you the very best of luck and hope to see you as part of our cohort in July. The current R1 group has been pretty active so far and I can confidently say that you will be impressed with the quality of your future cohort.
Good luck!
Steve
