I agree that we should make this topic more active! Brazilian who will be applying R2 here. I'm done with 5 out of 7 essays (still considering whether I should write the optional essay). My main reason for R2 instead of R1 is to give time to my recommenders.
Who is applying R1? Deadline is close!
By the way, any thoughts on using the optional essay to discuss a school visit (impressions, how it made you feel, etc.)? Would this add any value to the application?

Dear Latinoinasuit (hee hee) I recommend that you use the optional on why Insead, given that there's not really any room to discuss this elsewhere. And of course that would be an excellent opportunity to showcase your campus visit.
Using this will also force you to research the school and a little bit more depth and that has got to come in handy with the video essays.
I 'd really like to emphasize that you should coach your recommenders and indicate talking points, and anecdotes. my most successful candidates have worked openly with their recommenders.
It is basically like they're writing two essays for you . Since they have a little extra time I would really emphasize, you'll want to review that content and work with them on it.
