If x is 8 less than -4, what is x/4?

A. -8
B. -4
C. -3
D. 2
E. 3

    • The only pitfall here is if one does not understand the meaning of \(x\) is \(8\) less than \(-4\).
o This means that \(x\) with respect to \(-4\) is \(8\) less.

    • That mean, we need to reduce \(-4\) by \(-8\) to get \(x\),
      o which is \(-4-8 = -12\)

    • Now that we have \(x\), the value of \(\frac{x}{4}\) will be
      o \(-\frac{12}{4} = -3\)
      o Correct Option is C
