hi,
i want to know that before starting the exam when we are supposed to select 5 colleges , do we need to remember the college codes or is it a drop down list that is displayed from which we select? please help!!

hi Mallika1318,
There is no need to remember the GMAT codes of the universities you want your gmat score to be reported. You can search the name of the universities from the drop-down menu and add the 5 universities of your choice. If you want to report your gmat score to more than 5 universities then mba.com charges a certain fee.

Bumping up this thread instead of creating a new one.

1. Is there a place on the web on which I can see the list of all codes?

2. Any thread highlighting what colleges to select for someone who has not finalized colleges?

Hi.

1. I don't think there is a list of codes online or that you really need it..... It is pretty easy to search in their system, so not sure that you need to find them online because.... you can't bring anything with you to the test room. I have not seen them published in the last 10 years but the codes are weird such as KC7-0X-86 for Darden or G56-97-73 for wharton. On the GMAT, you just click and add schools - you don't need to worry about the actual code.

2. You can use this tool to estimate your chances: https://gmatclub.com/forum/what-are-my- ... ml?fl=menu or you are welcome to review this topic: https://gmatclub.com/forum/how-to-short ... 69585.html

Thank you,
BB.

I have used the evaluation tool but I am mostly thinking to go for colleges based out of India. I will look into "how to research" thread.

Quick Question: Codes are different based on Program offered or they're just codes at college level?

Thank you!

You really don't need to worry about it
it is almost as easy as shopping on amazon. You don't memorize the ID's of products on amazon and you should not memorize school ID's either. It is usually based on the program but there is no set rule. Some programs may have just MBA while others may have full time and part time split up. It is not rocket science and 200,000 test takers every year figure it out at the test center ;)
You will be fine.

However, if you don't think you can handle the stress and it is too much and you will screw up, you can always order a score report for additional programs from mba.com. There is no reason to give this task/concern any priority. Show up, choose your MBA programs from a simple search form where you can type and search, pick them, and done. (P.S. Don't forget to take the test)

P.S. Take a look at abhimahna's post above too - it is a relaxing exercise :)

The decision tracker and profile evaluation are nice tools in the kitty. But before that i tried something of my own before my first GMAT exam. Here it is, though very raw.

Left the sheet as it is to focus on exam that i screwed up first time. Decision tracker is also responsible for i having left like that. :). You may update it as it is mostly vacant.

Please note that there is no basis of the list, it's as random as it can be but from an India applicant's perspective.

Hi TheNightKing,

You are wondering what schools you should select, even though you have not narrowed down your school list? Do you have a general idea of which schools you’d like to apply to?

Hey Scott, I appreciate you reaching out.

Well, Yes. I don't have the list figured out but as I mentioned I am inclined towards colleges based out of India.

Few that I have thought I am mostly going to select during my GMAT exam are : IIM Banglore, XLRI, ISB, SP Jain Mumbai and Scheller College of Business. The last one is based out of Atlanta, GA; I know but I want to keep one US based college.

Do you have any suggestions?

Bumping up this thread since it already has some good info.

I have my test tomorrow. I have recently cleared undergrad and have minimal work exp. I am taking the Gmat now since I have the time and might use it in the coming years to apply to B-schools. However I haven't made up my mind yet as to if I want to go for an MBA or a general masters program like an MIM, MFIN, etc.

Due to the above mentioned reasons, I will be cancelling my score irrespective of what I get. I read on the mba.com platform that if I reinstate my score within 5 years, the score still gets submitted to the college's I had initially picked.

So I am curious as to if the selection before the exam is just college's you wish too apply to OR do I have to choose the program too?

As far as I know you also have to select the program, but you could reach out to the folks at GMAC to confirm!
