This is wrong. The answer should be :
2^11 * 5 ^ 10

Love how the first question I tried after deciding to try again for an MBA has an error in it...

So sorry my bad, all those symbols when writing the question confused me :sad:

\(20^{5}*5^{10}*8^{2}/10^{5}\)

a) \(2^{11}\)
b) \(2^{60}5^{50}\)
c) \(2^{16}5^{15}\)
d) \(2^{16}3^{10}10^{8}\)
e) \(2^{8}5^{20}10^{5}\)

Source gmat tutor

\(\frac{20^{5}*5^{10}*8^{2}}{10^{5}}\)

= \(\frac{2^{16}*5^{15}}{2^{5}*5^5}\)

= \(2^{11}*5^{10}\)

None of the Answer matches, please check the OA and options, IMHO U missed \(5^{10}\) in option (A)

Hi! I don't quite get what you did to get to this \(\frac{2^{16}*5^{15}}{2^{5}*5^5}\)

Thank you :)

Hi! I don't quite get what you did to get to this \(\frac{2^{16}*5^{15}}{2^{5}*5^5}\)

Thank you :)

\(20^5 = (2^2*5)^5 = 2^{10}*5^5\)

\(8^2 = (2^3)^2 = 2^6\)

Now, add the top row -

\(20^5*5^{10}*8^2 = 2^{10}*5^5*5^{10}*2^6 = 2^{16}*5^{15}\)

20^5 x 5^10 x 8^2/10^5

=>2^5 x 5^10 x 8^2
(((8^2 = 2^3x2=2^6)))

=>2^5 x 2^6 x 5^10
(((Apply the property x^m.x^n = x^m+n)))

=>2^11 x 5^10

Hence the answer is A

Thank you

Dear Moderator,
Can we format this question properly, initially was confused if the question was :
\(20^{5}*5^{10}* \frac{8^{2}}{10^{5}}\) or \(\frac{ 20^{5}*5^{10}*8^{2}}{10^{5}}\)
Thank you.

Thank you, in a hurry , did not realize that both the expressions would give same result.
