Dedicated amateur photographers may be reluctant to switch from traditional negative development to being printed on a computer, but their concerns have no financial basis, as even a six-month supply of darkroom chemicals easily surpasses the one-time cost of a scanner and printer.

A. to switch from traditional negative development to being printed on a computer
B. about switching from traditional negative development to printing on a computer
C. to switch from printing using traditional negative development to digital cameras
D. about switching from traditional negative development to those of digital cameras
E. to switch from printing from a traditional negative to printing from a digital image

This question uses the idiom X to Y and both need to be parallel.

Option E is the correct answer!

A. to switch from traditional negative development to being printed on a computer --> "traditional negative development"(proper noun) is not parallel w/ "being printed"(gerund)
B. about switching from traditional negative development to printing on a computer --> "reluctant to" is correct idiom
C. to switch from printing using traditional negative development to digital cameras --> "printing"(gerund) isn't parallel w/ "digital cameras"(proper noun)
D. about switching from traditional negative development to those of digital cameras --> same as B
E. to switch from printing from a traditional negative to printing from a digital image --> correct

E brings new meaning "Printing from a digital image" while the original sentence is talking about "printing on a computer". Both convey different meaning, then how can E be the correct answer.
It is maintaining the parallelism but changing the meaning

My reply is not specific to this question, but generally, we should not look at option A as the option that will always give us the intended meaning. Option A may in fact (sometimes) convey the wrong meaning.
