MIM IE Madrid vs HEC Paris

Question

So I got admitted to the master in management at IE Business School and HEC Paris, which I am both really excited for. Making a decision isn't that easy for me so hear me out.

I contacted Alumni’s of both Schools and heard a lot of pros and cons so I have many factors to consider:

First of all

Second factor

Third factor

How much less likely am I to find a job in London with IE? Is it worth it to spend the extra year in a probably slightly less enjoyable environment and retaking a lot of courses I am already more than familiar with? for example: I should take statistics but already did Statistics 1 , Statistics 2 and Econometrics during my Bachelors.

Any thought or inputs are welcome, this quarantine situation gives me much way to much time to think.

HEC Paris, but dépends on which major you can earn after your 1st year of MiM because in France MiM is a general program and the second year correspond to a MSc for exemple MiM major Finance students have exactly the same courses, professor, ... than MSc in International Finance.

But all the major are not well and majors finance and strategic management (the two most prestigious) are very selective inside HEC (you have to be in the top 40% in 1st year MiM to have a chance)

Congratulations for getting admits in both programs. I am not an expert in MiM programs but know that HEC offers the best MiM program in the world and it's reputation is outstanding.
Take a look on both the sides of a coin. If you know most of the course taught in HEC, it can help you further to hone your skills and it will be quite easy for you. There are many advantages to it. You can learn French or additional language or course. You have an opportunity to stand out. It is true that HEC is far from the city but you have a beautiful campus and many people live in Paris in the second half of the course. I would say, finding job in other countries in Europe with HEC MiM will be easier than IE program.

Would you consider the HEC+Yale program? Can you still opt for it?

I live in London - HEC is by quite a margin the better brand here, regarded as more elite. But IE is definitely not unheard of and is also popular.

Having that Yale brand on top will set you apart trust me especially here, and sets you in even better stead for US companies.

Also HEC has a farther reaching alumni network too, and possibly better internship placements given that it’s in Paris?

But sometimes it comes down to personal preference and emotions - fit is very important too and can make or break your academic performance + impact during the program + personal growth. Which are by far more important things once you get past the job hunting hurdle.

I hope this is a real question. Go to HEC and never turn back. IE is way overpriced and its selection is very dubious. Trust me go to HEC, full stop
