mjaininc, first things first, there is never a minimum GMAT score out there.

From a range perspective, in general, one can easily add 20-30 points to a given school's average to get a sense of the Indian GMAT average. There is not much reason to say why that expectation might get lowered for a non-engg grad. A contrarian view to that is the expectation from such a candidate can be higher, to be sure that the analytical potential is there/at par.

Hope this helps some.

Just wanted some clarification.

I thought the Indian-IT-Male category to be the most overrepresented segment in terms of MBA applications. Doesn't that make them require the highest GMATs to make them competitive.

I just thought the Indian-nonIT category to be comparatively less overrepresented, so the GMAT scores might be a bit low.

Do I make sense, or is there something incorrect in my line of thinking? Just wanted some clarification.

Thanks

Well, not quite. It is not ideal to assume confounding of parameters. If that were the case, you could argue in the similar way that having a high GMAT score can compensate for low work-ex.

Like I said earlier, there is no reason to assume the schools would lower their expectations only because you are not from an engineering background. Best to err on the side of caution and have all guns blazing.

I’m also an Indian from a non IT background looking to apply to Canadian colleges specifically. ‘

A doubt was recently raised with me that Any good Canadian college required a “4 year” undergraduate programme whereas in India, most of the non-engineering undergraduate programs are for 3 years.

So wanted to understand if this is true?
Given I have done a 3 year graduate programme, would I need to do a 1-year diploma as well before being eligible to apply to top Canadian MBA colleges?

I don't think that having done a 3 year program would be an issue. It is the same in UK as well.

They do require 4 year programs for Canadian and US undergrads though.
