Assertion involving Artifact A: Artifact B is older than Artifact A.

Assertion involving Artifact C: Artifact C is older than Artifact B.

So if B is older than A and C is older than B ,then it means C is older than A

Because if we select D to complete the loop then we get both A and C older than D,which doesn't solves the puzzle

To Prove: Artifact C is older than Artifact A.

Of the given options: the best combination that proves the above is: Artifact C is older than Artifact B. AND
Artifact B is older than Artifact A.
=> C>B>A => C>A.
Thus,
Assertion involving Artifact A : Artifact B is older than Artifact A.
Assertion involving Artifact C : Artifact C is older than Artifact B.

An archaeologist studying Artifacts A–D is interested in whether “Artifact C is older than Artifact A.”

Statements:

1) Artifact A is older than Artifact B. => {A>B}

2) Artifact A is older than Artifact D. => {A>D} (Assertion regarding D is not asked in question, Hence INVALID)

3) Artifact B is older than Artifact A. => {B>A}

4) Artifact B is older than Artifact D. => {B>D} (Assertion regarding D is not asked in question, Hence INVALID)

5) Artifact C is older than Artifact D. => {C>D} (Assertion regarding D is not asked in question, Hence INVALID)

6) Artifact C is older than Artifact B. => {C>B}

Let say A>B and C>B (from 1st and 6th statement) => A/C>B
(But who among A and C is Bigger? Clearly not identifiable)

Now take other statements B>A and C>B (statement 3 and statement 6) => C>B>A (hence we know Artifact C is definitely greater than A)

=>> Assertion involving Artifact A: Statement 3: Artifact B is older than Artifact A. => {B>A}

=>> Assertion involving Artifact C: Statement 6: Artifact C is older than Artifact B. => {C>B}

Using statement 3&6 we can conclude that Artifact C > Artifact A // Answer.

It implies A>B. Even if there is any statement with the following condition C>B, we can't conclude the relationship between A and C. Hence Ignore

2. Artifact A is older than Artifact D.
It implies A>D. Even if there is any statement with the following condition C>D, we can't conclude the relationship between A and C. Hence Ignore

3. Artifact B is older than Artifact A.
It implies B>A. Look for statement C>B. You will see that the statement 6 implies this condition. So keep 3 and 6

4. Artifact B is older than Artifact D.
Ignore, it doesn't have any of the Artifact A and C

5. Artifact C is older than Artifact D.
It Implies C>D, We don't have any statement with the following condition D>A. Hence Ignore

6. Artifact C is older than Artifact B.
