Dear all,
I am planning to write GMAT in the month of April- May. I am looking for a course which is good in Verbal and under budget.
I wanted to have honest opinions about
GMATWhiz Verbal course. Please consider me a noob in verbal section. Also, it would be great if you can comment on the Quant section of GMATWhizz considering the level and quality of question they have in their platform.
PS : I have a decent understanding of Quant and scored 91 percentile in CAT 2019.
Hello AfeefM
Given that you have got a 91 percentile in CAT, its pretty fair to assume that you possess a decent ability in verbal as well as in quant.
But a thing to notice is that quant in GMAT is much more logical than hardcore. This difference however, seems trivial but can make or break the score. A trap I was locked in.
Also your choice of taking exam in April-May is a great one, as many US colleges also offer
Early round intake (eg Darden etc.). You'd also have a chance to apply for initial rounds for January intake as well.
i mentioned all this because I faltered at the very step you have taken, and started with a very brute force approach.
I have used various resources like- Sandeep Gupta's top one percent, e-gmat,
experts global, kaplan,
manhattan prep and one or two more.
My score was stuck at 680 for around a year.
after lot of concepts and everything I was still not able to work upon the timing as I was not in the habit of reading.
So, I tried another course
GMATWhiz for my last attempts
In my honest opinion among all the materials I have tried and tested, it is the most structured and timing focused one.
All other courses focus mainly on concepts and other things but it very imperative that an average student is able to apply those concepts within the time frame.
GMATWhiz has done a tremendous job on that front.
For example it, provided framework technique for CR - in this they have made a ready made templates for finding assumptions in any CR question.
Another example, let's say if i take of SC, unlike other courses they have a very unique approach. Many courses teach you to understand the meaning and under that banner they only teach you how to read slowly. But
GMATWhiz gave me another angle of reading, in that apart from reading and co-relating words, it also taught me how to find errors before even moving onto the options, where to look for and very importantly what to skip- because in one minute you should know what to focus on and what not to.
Under the banner of GMAT quant, more often than not we come around courses which offer basic math teachings. Agreed there is not much to deal on that front, but what every one misses on is the hidden logic.
By the time I purchases their course i was already aware of mistakes that I was doing again & again. But when I went through their course I came to know that in the end of module they provide common pitfalls list for every topic. I was literally crying and laughing at the same time. As what i had done in months they were offering in minutes of teachings.
All these are the reasons I consider
GMATWhiz over any other prep course.
If we digress a little bit and talk about their portal and not pedagogy, its AI offers automatic weak points suggestion and also recommends videos and concepts that we should revise and go through to solidify the same.
This was really helpful for me, as for it me it becoming a really tedious task to take note of all the wrong answers and repetitive mistake again and again and then also monitor them.
So this offers an added advantage to those, who really need time for other activities.
So, with 3 months in hand I think this is the best way to go for and save your time.
Apologies for such a long description, but then when I used to read reviews, I always found them incomplete or unsubstantiated. So I thought i should not follow the track I dislike. That's why this.
Thanks & Regards
