Hi ,
After a lot of practice questions I identified that the issue that I am facing in SC is that I loose a lot of time when I start reading and identifying the errors in the question. Also, sometimes it is not easy to identify a split in SC questions.
I also saw videos by GMAT Ninja videos; However, they seem to have an innate ability to spot the errors and complete the question in the given time frame.
Could you please help me identify that what should be the strategy to approach an SC question or what technique should I practice so that it becomes an intuitive process for me as well.
Thoughts are much appreciated.
Hi aashigarg,
I understand that comprehending a sentence, identifying errors in it and eliminating answer choices can be quite difficult to do under 2 minutes. But it's not that tough if you use the right methods and strategies to solve SC questions. Most of the students struggle with SC because they do not know what is actually tested.
SC questions mainly test your ability to convey the right meaning without any ambiguity. So, if you solve the SC questions from grammar perspective, then it's not always possible to end up with the right answer. I say this because you might have often come across answer choices which are both grammatically correct and convey a logical meaning but are indeed incorrect. So, it's important that you understand the meaning of the original sentence, identify the errors if any and then eliminate answer choices which either are grammatically incorrect or do not convey the intended meaning.
Hope it helped. We could get in touch over a zoom conference call so that I can analyze your approach in detail and identify the exact point at which you are faltering. This will help me guide you in a better way. You can use the below link to get in touch with me.
