A calculation heavy question:
The paint manufacturer recommends:
=> 0.7 in 10
=> 0.7*6.8 in 68 lts
=> 4.76 ltr in 68 lts

paint dealer mixes: 3.4 in 68 ltr
=> 3.4

So, Difference will be percent should the mixing be increased
=> 4.76-3.4
=> 1.36 above base of 3.4
=> 1.36*100/3.4 %
=> 40%

I think there's a way that can make this question less calculation heavey

notice that
\(\\
34 = \frac{68}{2}\)
so \(3.4 = \frac{1 }{ 20} * 68\)

Or, we can say that this mixture hsa 0.5l of red paint per 10l base.

And we want to target 0.7l of red paint per 10l base. Thus, the change would be \(0.7 - 0.5 = 0.2\)

The percentage change would be \(\frac{0.2 }{ 0.5} =\frac{ 2}{5} = 40%\)

0.7/10= .07

3.4/68= .05

.05x=.07
x=1.4. This is a multiplier, so 40%

To make a certain color, a paint dealer mixes 3.4 liters of red color to a base that is 68 liters. The paint manufacturer recommends mixing 0.7 liters per 10 liters of base to make that color. By what percent should the mixing be increased to bring it to the recommendation?

(A) 10%
(B) 33.33%
(C) 40%
(D) 66.66%
(E) 72%
