If we draw a line meeting point B, D, F and H, then we see 7 equilateral triangles.
Total area = 6*7 = 21, by symmetry, blue colored is 1/3rd.
So, the blue area = 21/3 = 7.
So, I think E.

from the picture above if one triangle area is 6, then the shaded area must be greater than 6 for sure so the answer can be 6.5 or 6.
and it must be 7 becuase it's one full triangle and 1/6 of the triangle not one full triangle and 1/12th
Therefore E
