Wow, all very impressive credentials and experiences. You will make for a fine candidate.

It's great that you spoke with admissions. If they are giving you the vote of confidence, that is way more meaningful than the advice any of us "outsiders" can provide.

Good luck with your applications! Wishing you the very best.

Hi,

CBS is Copenhagen Business School. I'm not aiming high. I wrote IE cause I spoke to the admissions office and they said I can get in if I can raise my gmat score by at least 30 points.

My background is that I hold a degree in law and professional qualification as a Board officer, which allows me to work with, advice and manage the Board of Directors. I've worked for two fortune 500 companies, worked under a former district judge as a litigator, trained in a CA firm to understand the financial aspects of business.

My accomplishments maybe that I singlehandedly oversaw legal issues for one of the companies for about two years, worked with functional heads, conducted legal investigations with regional legal counsels, represented my country in global legal committee of the company, identified a major legal issue and resolved, saving costs and a few such things. Worked independently and managed a team at different times.

Apart from work, I've regularly volunteered with children and caused related to mental health. I don't have certificates to prove that since I did it purely out of interest. I also mentor teens and adults from underprivileged background to carry forward their ambitions. This is certified.

Thanks for taking time to review this. Makes a difference to me.

Appreciate your honest review.

We have worked with a few lawyers for their MBA applications, so I have some idea about this.
Generally, b-schools would want to be assured about your quantitative skills and would expect a competitive GMAT score. SO I would concur that you should take the GMAT once again for a higher score.
Your work experience sounds substantial, but you would need to make it relevant to a business school. How do you do this? Show that you understand business/ have financial achievements on your resume and your goals are also oriented towards business. Basically, your corporate experience will be more valuable here as compared to your litigation experience, so you should come up with relevant stories to highlight this experience through every part of your application- resume, essays and recommendations.

Hello all,

I'm a corporate lawyer with 8+ years of domestic experience. I have had the opportunity to weigh in on business decisions due to close work with the Board of Directors as well as being on the Operations Committee.

All of these got me really excited to learn more about the business side of work and I want to pursue a one year MBA. I will hopefully do something in corporate strategy/M,&A/organizational behaviour post my MBA and also use my legal skills.

I took the GMAT exam two years ago and scored a 660. I never seriously thought I was good enough for an MBA since I'm in my early thirties. However, I now want to seriously do this. I also want to work in the site country post an MBA.

I'm planning on applying to CBS, Imperial Business School, and IE. I was keen on IMD but I cannot afford to wait that long to begin. My preference is Europe or Australia.

I am starting over and would appreciate any advice on how to make this happen and if my target schools are achievable? Please advice. Thanks.

Hi there,
If you are looking for MBA programs with specialization in organizational behaviour, you can find a list here: https://www.aringo.com/mba-organization ... alization/

If you are looking for MBA programs with specialization in corporate strategy, you can find a list here: https://www.aringo.com/mba-corporate-st ... alization/

Maybe you can also consider MBA programs in Law or Joint JD/MBA programs which you can find at many top business schools.

This is interesting! Just wondering if the consultants who responded to the OP were offering them vague conversations/advice.

Namita,

Thanks for pointing out how that came across. Certainly was not intended as a shot at any of the other consultants (including you) and the very generous and valuable insights they provide here and on many other platforms. That was a classic example of being too focused on a narrow answer to the original question and not thinking of how it would come across to others. My sincere apologies to you and anyone who was offended.

Again appreciate your frankness.

Thank you for acknowledging it. Some of us have been on this forum far too long, trying to give genuine answers that fit the applicants' situations. I guess that's why I pointed it out.
And I understand what you are saying about responding to the OP's original post without reading the trail. Happens with most of us

Thanks for sharing your question here, you have descent GMAT score, as you have more than 8 years of experience, Europe schools would best for you, I would suggest you to retake the exam for higher score, as you want to pursue MBA for legal professional they would make sure your quantitative ability, 660 is descent score you should try for higher score, You have a series of things to concentrate, you have great profile so build your story, get your strategy aligned with the right college, ensure your profile adds to your long term goal
