Hi guys,
I attempted “Online Gmat” Exam on 23 Mar 22. I scored a 660(Q48, V 32). However, due to various issues during the exam i represented and the attempt has been cancelled. A voucher has been given for taking a fresh attempt.
PrepI used the following materials - OG 22,e-gmat online course( Aug 21 - Jan 22), Online old version of
MGMAT SC, GMAT Club Maths Flashcards for revision,
GMAT Club TestsMy initial prep was based on the e-GMAT online course.
Being a working professional, initially the prep was very slow. I was not very successful in SC and did the SC from e-GMAT almost thrice. It hampered balance of my prep. In Dec end- Jan I could finally give my full attention to my prep and covered balance of the topics. I could complete CR & RC quickly, however Quant was too exhaustive. I could not complete all the topics in the course. But the extensive practice helped a lot in understanding the basic topics. Due to various commitments i couldn't schedule my exam in Jan - Feb 22 and the
e-GMAT course expired.
Feedback on e-GMAT - All the sections are quite exhaustive and helpful. I have been out of rigorous academics for more than a decade. The course helped me getting back to studies and understand the basic topics. The theory is good, however, I feel most of the practice questions are pitched at a higher difficulty level which needs to be taken into account during the preparation. In my opinion one should complete the course and then hone the skills one lack without putting too much effort on a particular section in the initial prep itself (I spent a lot of effort in SC). Also, presently the study material is in a large number of PDF files. Revision is cumbersome if one wants to use these PDF files. Consolidated PDF of Quant & Verbal will help in this aspect.
GMAT Club Tests - My Savior - I activated my Club Test Account ( Available with the
e-GMAT course) in Jan 22 and i have attempted five tests each of Quant & Verbal. Quant is definitely more difficult and scores are 4-5 points lower side than actual GMAT scores. But, then that is what is required. In verbal, the tests and scores are quite accurate. Definitely, official questions are preferable in verbal, but the club tests are good and the solutions easy to understand unlike OG solutions. Best thing about Club Tests is the performance analysis which pinpoints the areas one needs to concentrate.
Prep Tests - I attempted only the free tests 1 & 2 available on mba.com. I gave an additional test after resetting the tests. A large number of questions were repeated during the attempt.
GMAT Club - Daily Practice questions are very helpful in keeping in touch with all topics, I attempted all official questions on the forum timer - the explanations by all experts are wonderful, GMATNinja youtube videos and the GMAT marathon have been a great help in the preparation
ExamTwo days prior to the exam, mba.com was having login issues. I had prepared my PC for the exam and had downloaded Chrome, Firefox in addition to microsoft edge. I was promptly assigned a proctor. As i was attempting the exam on a PC, I had to use a mobile phone for showing the room to the proctor. However, after the id checks the exam did not commence. The proctor asked me to reload the software, change settings etc. He himself tried numerous times but somehow the exam was not commencing on my PC. We almost spent two hours trying to commence the exam. Finally I had to change my PC. I got a Mac Book and set it up for the exam. Due to the technical issues and delay I was a bit stressed during the exam. I knew Verbal was a my weak area. Attempted it first and I took my scheduled breaks. Result was lower than I was expecting. After the exam I wrote to customer care and my result was cancelled. I have also been given a voucher valid upto end May for another online attempt.
Retake?Well it is a retake now. As verbal is an issue for me, I have purchased Manhattan All the Verbal. Alongwith my previous notes and official questions on GMAT CLUB, I feel it will be sufficient. For quant, previous notes and GMAT CLUB MATH BOOK is what i am basing my studies. I plan to give four mock exams and make most of GMAT CLUB forums and Club Tests.
Still long way to go. Will get back with my final scores.
Cheers
