Folks, can someone help me with a question I have?

Planning to apply to ISB in R2, does anyone know whether applying in R2 has a reduced admit rate/chances of getting Hyd campus?
No. To the best of my knowledge, they divide the students between the campus in a way to maintain uniform diversity, ratios of different kinds, etc.

Thank you. And about the admission chances, any idea if ISB tends to fill a majority of its seats in R1 or not?

I know this is not true for US schools, not sure about the scene in ISB

They have a pool and then divide it into the ratio of campus strength (e.g 6:3) so that there’s no disparity. Just curious, why are you looking for only Hyderabad?

I heard that folks in the Hyd campus are given preference over folks on the Mohali campus in terms of placements etc.

I know this might be way off, I heard this on Reddit.

Hi Manan. Could you plz explain what are the aspects that interviewers are supposed to assess in the candidate? Are they given some sort of grading sheet? or is it a Yes/No kind of scenario?

Around communication, goal clarity, leadership acumen, etc. Graded on these parameters+ yes/no comments section where they add more color.

Thanks a lot for the clarity on interviews Manan. 1 more question. What are some concepts / pre-MBA subjects that one should revise before joining ISB? I believe most of the folks here haven’t touched an academic book in a long time and will find it difficult to memorize and study those in Term 1.

Absolute bunkum AFAIK. During placements, all the Hyd batch travel to Mohali or vice-versa and then interviews happen at one place. Companies don't know your base campus.
Also, your GMAT score is not shared with the companies, even though MBB generally state that they need the GMAT score on the CV. Most B-schools of US/UK share the GMAT score with the consulting companies so that it helps in shortlisting.

Hi guys
I am digressing from the topic of discussion in this channel but if anyone here has any thoughts about it, I’d like to hear. Everyday news of layoffs and job cuts is really making me doubt the decision of moving out of workforce at this time, taking student loans and then graduating into an uncertain labor market. While I have worked really very hard towards making my way into MBA, the current situation is making me quite anxious.
Thanks!

Hi..life is always certain u never know what’s going to happen in future. When it comes to decision..its purely your own and just weigh in the pros and cons of moving out. Also, i believe age is another factor and years of work ex as well. If u feel now is not the right time ..then stick to it.
Though i would highly recommend going forward.
Hope it helps...
Cheers

My opinion. Recession is already here. That’s the main reason why we should not do a 1-yr MBA from Europe if we want to do the triple jump. However, you can minimize risk if you want to continue in your pre-MBA function/industry. ISB PGP is a different game. Indian institutes do everything in their powers to get you placed at a CTC that won’t hurt their placement statistics.

Dear nnvin,

The decision to apply to R3 should be taken independent of conversion numbers.

Note that while 20% of the entire cohort is filled from R3, the number of applicants who have applied in R2 and R1 are also significantly higher compared to R3. Hence, you should make the choice based on the following factors and not just the absolute no. of people selected.
a. Do you think you can demonstrate quality in your experiences and profile by R3 deadline?
b. Do you think you have / will have a competitive GMAT score by R3 deadline?
c. Do you think the incremental value add to your profile in 9 months (considering you will apply in R1 next year i.e Oct) is not significant enough and you potentially have most of the skillsets even if you apply now and not wait three more quarters?

I am an ISB alum and have been guiding applicants in their admission journeys for last 6+ years. Feel free to set up a pro-bono profile evaluation and admission chances session with us in case you seek further inputs to make a decision.

Cheers and all the best!
