MartyMurray could you please explain why D is the wrong answer for Q3? I did not take it to mean that frogs' visual neurons respond ONLY to predators and prey, but rather predators and prey as an example of an object in motion.
D. Visual neurons that fire only when a predator is approaching or prey is escaping

D is wrong because Visual neurons are fired to recognize moving object. Author has given an example of predator and prey in a specific case. Nowhere author mentioned that it limit to this case So the word ONLY makes this option Incorrect

Can anyone explain para 3 in this passage? This came in my GMAT Focus official mock and that last passage made me waste a lot of precious minutes as I was hell bent on understanding it. I still do not get what they meant by the two dots. Thanks in advance :)

Here is my take on this, and it might help.

This question and the answer choices are a little confusing and POE works best here.

Lets Evaluate B, C, D & E first.

B)Nowhere in the passage it states that Frogs Eyes Microsaccades for object in motion, but what it definetly states that Frogs Eyes dont see stationary objects, while human can, the reason due to eyes motion during Microsaccading. Hence reject B.

C)If as the answer choice states, visual neurons responded to static scenes, then frogs would have been able to see stationary objects. However, they are not able to see them, since visual neurons are not firing up, which as stated in passage get fired up during Microsaccading. Hence reject this answer.

D)The passage states that frogs are able to see object in motion LIKE the predators approaching and prey escapping. It also means that frogs should be able to see neutral animals like the frog itself. So reject this ans.

E) This is tough second choice for me. The passage states that the reason why humans are able to see stationary objects , is due to visual neurons firing, WHICH IS ITSELF DUE TO MICROSACCADING. So Microsaccading is essential for visual neurons to fire, which helps us see. Option A is more closer and accurate to the facts than E, so reject E and go with A.
