­If \((\sqrt{2} + \sqrt{3})^{1000} = x­\), what is the value of \((\sqrt{2}-\sqrt{3})^{1000}\), in terms of \(x\)?

A. \(x^2\)

B. \(2x\)

C. \(3x\)

D. \(\frac{1}{x}\)

E. \(-x\)­

It is easy to eliminate wrong answer choices. The answer has to be positive (because its an even exponent) and smaller (because (√2 + √3) > 1 and (√2 - √3) < 1)  than x.

A, B, and C All yield an answer bigger than x. Eliminate.
E is negative. Eliminate.

D is the only answer that fits out criteria. Correct.­
