The Acme Corporation has a total of 33 employees, each of whom works in one of three departments and at one of two office locations, Central Office and South Office. Each department has employees at both offices, though no employee works in more than one office and no employee works in more than one department.
Statement: To determine the mean number of employees per department at South Office, first take the total number of employees in Central Office and A , and then take the resulting number and B .

a= subtracting the no of employees of central office from total will give us the no of employees of south office, b= as we want mean no of employees per department i.e 3 therefore dividing the no of employees of south office by 3 that we get by subtracting from total will give us the mean employees per department.

No Overlap
Therefore, to determine the mean number of employees per department,
A) Total of 33 - Central Office (subtract it from 33)
B) Divide by # of departments (divide it by 3)
