Apple juice : carrot juice = 1:3
Total volume mixture = 12lit
Therefore: Apple juice = 12 / 4 * 1 = 3 lit
Carrot juice = 12/4 * 3 = 9 lit
After change the mixture:
Apple juice : carrot juice = 3:1
Therefore: apple juice = 12/4 * 3 =9 lit
carrot juice = 12/4 * 1 = 3 lit
Additional apple juice needed: 9 - 3 = 6 lit

Since,
Total volume = 12 litre.
Apple juice -> 3L & Carrot juice-> 9L
For the ratio to be 3:1, AJ should be 9L and carrot juice should be 3L, since it is a replacement, total volume remains constant.
Hence if we remove 8 liters of the solution, according to the existing ratio it will contain 2L AJ & 6L CJ.
When replaced with AJ, new ratio becomes (1L(remaining) + 8L(added))L AJ and 9-6= 3L CJ . which is the required quantity.
Total volume = 12 litre.
Apple juice -> 3L & Carrot juice-> 9L

We want to reverse the ratio that is 9l apple juice and orange as 3l.
So if we remove 6l orange juice it'll become 3l,
But if we remove 6l orange juice, 2l apple juice will also be removed as they're in the ratio of 1:3
Therefore, now the quantity becomes 4l out of which 1l is apple juice and 3l orange juice.
Now we can add 8l pure apple juice to make it 9l and orange juice will still be 3l, making the whole mixture as 12l.
