Hi kg3513

The most important thing that you can and should do at this point is to reflect and plan how you should present your story so that your candidacy makes a strong appeal to the admissions committee. I read tons of ISB essays every year during ding analysis reviews, and the single most significant thing that reeks of a failed attempt is desperate attempts by candidates to stitch together random experiences (personal or professional) in the essays that, first of all, do not show depth of character and the ability to think critically about the problems, and second, do not make a compelling case for pitching certain career goals. You may be a young candidate, but if you are reading my response, having this understanding early will help you start on the right foot.

I have mentored applicants in the past who made it to the PGP program with just about 2 years of experience because they were able to show a strong understanding of a focus area and diversity in experiences through a variety of projects. You should remember that your competition will be with others in the process who are around your age and have similar experience, so try your best to beat your peers. Do not worry so much about more experienced folks. MBA cohorts are created on bell curves, and you know that you will be placed on the somewhat left side of the curve where the selected admits are fewer, so you must do your best to maximise your chances. If you are from a tier 1 pedigree, I would discourage the idea of a MiM. I am happy to guide you in detail should you want a more personalised discussion.

Best wishes

12th - 97.6%
btech cs from tier 1 college in india - 8.78 cgpa
yoe: 2 yoe (presently), 3 years by June 2026 in a fintech mnc as engg.
GRE: 170Q 157V

academics achievements:
1. 99.9%ile in JEE
2. Merit based scholarship in btech (top 5%)

extra curriculars/pro bono:

2. volunteer for mental health organisation in college, created awareness among 1.5k+ students pre and post covid during college fest

some leadership experience in my present role (mentoring interns in case challenge)

i have questions regarding :
1. overall profile, what can i do in short time (R2 deadlines) to improve my profile ?
2. I am aiming for ISB PGP 26 intake and a bit skeptical since the class average is about 4-5 yoe and I have a bit south of that
3. Is MiM in european colleges, and MeM in US colleges a good decision (backup plan) as compared to indian MBAs (ISB and IIMs) ?

It’s always lovely to see a woman with a strong background in operations leadership and design, this profile is genuinely admired at top B-schools (I can say that, having walked a similar path myself). I would encourage you to highlight the well-known employer brands you have worked with and bring out the diversity of your experience, from motivating teams on the shop floor or securing alignment from senior stakeholders at HQ. That said, I will be honest, admissions committees may view a career break solely for GMAT prep with some concern, as it can raise questions about your ability to juggle multiple priorities, something that’s quite central to life as an MBA student. Just something to be mindful of and plan for. I would suggest that you have a job offer in hand or an internship offer, if you plan to switch domains/ industry etc by the time you apply or interview for schools.

Feel free to reach out should you want a one to one discussion

Best wishes

You offset your disappointing undergraduate CGPA so well by cracking just a wow GMAT.
An ideal candidate for ISB. However, don't forget to set out exploring schools beyond ISB.
