At NorthBridge Fulfillment Center, a standard workday is 8 hours and a standard workweek is 5 workdays. A shift supervisor observed that a clerk can scan and log incoming packages at a rate of 1 package every 50 seconds. The supervisor wants to restate this rate using the warehouse’s standard units.

Based on the given information, select for pkg/day the equivalent rate in packages per workday and select for pkg/week the equivalent rate in packages per workweek. Make only two selections, one in each column.
total time in 1 workday= 8x 60x60 sec= 28800
total time in 1 work week= 8x5x60x60 sec= 144000
time for 1 package= 50 sec
package/day= 28800/50=576
pack/week=144000/50= 2880
Ans- 576,2880

1 package every 50 seconds

(1/50) every 1 second
(1/50) * 60 * 60 every hour
(1/50) * 60 * 60 * 8 in 8 hours of 1 workday ( =576)
576 * 5 in 5 days of 1 workweek (=2880)

Solution:

1. pkg/day= 50 seconds for1 package
For a standard one day = 28800/50 = 576 packages

2. pkg/day = 50 seconds
pkg/week = 50 seconds for 1 package

A standard workweek is 5 work days = 144000/50 = 2880 packages

1 packaging takes 50 seconds
1 workday =8 hrs =3600 sec per hour * 8 hrs =>value of one workday in seconds
1workweek=5 days * 8 hrs/day=>value of workweek in hours
so no of packages per day=8*3600/50=576
no of packages per week=5*8*3600/50=2880

8 hours = 8 * 60 * 60 seconds

1 package = 50 seconds

Therefore # package / day = 3600 * 8 / 50 = 576

Number of packages / week = 576 * 5 = 2880

Pkg/day = 576
Pkg / week = 2880

1. Read the questions twice
2. Understand that this question asked about RATE QUESTIONS
3. Remember formula D=RT

D=Done Work
R=Rate
T=Time (pay attention to seconds->hours)

4. Calculate Rate per Day

R=D/T
R(day) = 1 package per 50 seconds * (8 Hour * 3600 seconds/Hour) = 1/50 * 8*3600 = 576

5. Calculate Rate per Week

Since the standard work week is 5 working days
Hence,
R(week) = rate per day x 5 wd = 576*5 = 2880

answer 576 packeges per day , 2880 pachages per week

8 hours x 3600 = 28,800 divided by 50 sec equals 576 packages per day

576 packages x 5 days equals 2880 packages per week

Total Seconds in 8 hours = 8*60*60

In 50 Secs no of package = 1
In 1 secs no of Packages = 1/50

Total Packages in 1 day or 8 hours = 8*60*60/50 = 8*36 * 2 = 8* 72 = 576. (pkg/day)

Total no. of package per week = pkg/day* 5 workdays = 576*5 = 5760/2 = 2880. (pkg/week)

So according to the question the worker takes 50s to scan and log 1 package.

Per day: We have 8*60*60s.
=> number of packages /day = 8*60*60/50 = 576.

Per week: 5 workdays in a week: 576*5 = 2880.

pkg/day = \(\frac{8 * 60 * 60 }{ 50}\) = 576 (1 package for every 50 seconds, then for 8 hours * 60 minutes * 60 seconds is 576 packages)

pkg/week = 576 * 5 = 2880 (576 packages per day, since it is 5 workdays in a workweek, multiply by 5)

Standard workday & workweek = 8 hours & 5 days
so the work done by a clerk is 1 pkg per 50 seconds

we need to find pkg/day & pkg/week

pkg/day = 8 hr in seconds = 8 * 3600

now divide by rate = 8 * 3600 /50 = 576 =pkg/day

now for pkg/ week , multiply by 5 as workweek consist of 5 days = 576 * 5 = 2880

our answer is 576 & 2880

1 package every 50 secs
standard work day= 8hrs
Standard week= 5 days
covert 8 hrs into seconds= 8 x 60 x 60= 28,800 secs
so package per day will be 28800/50= 576packages
Packages per week= 576 x 5 days= 2880 packages per week

Final Selection: pkg/day= 576
pkg/week= 2880

A day consists of 8 hrs and a week is of 40 hrs. In 50 sec or in (50/(60 * 60) hrs), a clerk scans 1 package.

Thus, #packages scanned a day is 8 * 60 * 60 / 50 = 576.
And, weekly, the packages scanned are 576 * 5 = 2880

Simple multiplication of seconds in workday 8*60*60 = 28800
1 package every 50 seconds implies 28880/50 = 576

576 *5 = 2880 per week
