Hi Nikita,
You can change the essays and that is perfectly fine and logical. It doesn't have to be changing everything inside those essays neccesarily but adding details which make them a better read this time.
There's a reapplicant essay which is compulsory for reapplicants to show their progress over last year.

Hi,
You can group them as well, there's no hard and fast rule for these sections. Make sure that you mention the most important ones individually. Thye don't need a laundry list of awards in the application.

Hi, I've one question- for awards and recognitions, are we supposed to add all prizes individually or we can group multiple prizes in the same domain like one point for quizzes, another for sports, etc

Hi Satyam,

Good to see a fellow chemical engg in oil and gas here. Your experience and profile can offset the low GRE to an extent but you'd need to write strong essays in whichever round you apply to ISB. The thing is that ISB isn't just looking at one thing like a GRE score to make a decision, the review is holistic and considers all the aspects of the profile.
I would suggest going ahead with R1 as I feel taking the GRE again won't improve your score and chances by much

Hi all so I have a doubt regarding applying in isb R1 given i have not managed to score very high in gre . Here is my profile:
Profile Overview:
• Demographic: GEM (General Engineer Male)

M.Tech : Chemical Engineering, IIT H(9.2 GPA,

The classic score were not the odd multiples of 5. and GRE 321 would be equivalent to 615 in Focus (just a calculated approximation)

Hi Satyam,
You should consider taking the GRE again and aim for a minimum score of 324.
I believe this improvement is achievable without being overly ambitious, and a higher score would strengthen your chances of conversion.

Your educational background, academic record, work experience, the quality of your experience, and your achievements are all very impressive.

Being an IIT alumnus gives you several advantages in the application process. However, settling for a suboptimal score when there is scope to improve it would, in my opinion, be a mistake.

R1 and R2 do have their differences, but not to the extent that you should apply with a score that does not adequately represent your aptitude. I would strongly recommend taking the GRE once more and putting forward a score that is more reflective of your overall profile.

for example I received a same award for 4 years, so should i group it under 1 entry.
but what should be put up as the year in that case as it asks for that as well

If you are already in the flow with GRE preparation and your official mocks were consistently indicating a score above 321, I would consider another attempt. There is still time before the R2 applications, so improving your GRE score could strengthen your overall application. At the same time, focus strongly on defining your post-MBA goals, how they connect with your Chemical Engineering, EPC and Oil & Gas experience, and why you need an MBA at this stage. A stronger GRE combined with clear career goals and well-positioned professional impact would make your application more compelling.

I find it hard to believe that when you look at your essay then you can’t find scope of improvement. I find it always regardless of how well the earlier draft was.

Read them

Re-Read them

Bring in dimensions that shows you closer to the goal than you were last year.

Try to think of a recent changes and somehow incorporate them...

Reapplicant essay says *what* is changed

Other essays should display *how* you have changed over time.

*Showing growth* should be considered *non-negotiable* for reapplicant

Hi,

ISB adcom gives you an option to do better this year from last time including your essays. Why won't you take it?

ISB says this for reapplicants "We encourage you to showcase meaningful professional developments, new accomplishments, and enhanced clarity in your career vision since your previous submission."
Our admissions committee appreciates the determination demonstrated by reapplicants..."

They are encouraging you, not that they are asking you to do it mandatorily but I don't see a reason why someone won't do it.
