I am awaiting further information from the financial aid office and probably won't hear from them for another week or so. In the meantime, I paid my initial deposit and would like to register for my core group and classes because I have a strong preference for a T/Thurs schedule. It seems that you can't do so without either your aid info or paying it by credit card/check. Does anyone have any idea how urgent this is? Is it urgent enough to pay out of pocket and wait for reimbursement from the Stafford Loan program?
I would guess that the core groups haven’t yet been filled enough to really limit your choices. Only 2/3rds of eventual 450 enrollees can even access the registration form, and what percentage of them have already registered? However, I am sure the situation will soon change as people strive to meet the August 11th deadline.
I would guess that if you register by next week, you’ll probably be OK.

Thanks Tenore. Your advice and insight has always been great. Can you tell me how long it took to receive your aid info after receiving your admittance letter?

I actually completed my FAFSA before being admitted, so the info was already available to NYU when they accepted me. I got everything done about 2 or 3 weeks after my notification; however, I was not really rushing the process at all.
Still no news for this weekend-only applicant. With the admits from today (congrats btw!), I think maybe adcom were trying to take care of applicants who checked off more than 1 option. I am kinda envious because my boss won't let do the weeknight option If I could choose between weeknight and weekend, I would choose the weeknight option.
I also looked around on Stern's website. There are seven core groups, one for Westchester, one for weekend, and the rest for Washington Square weeknight. I don't know if all core groups have the same amount of people. Hope that info is useful to some of you on here.
i was looking at the 2007 fall forum and a number of folks got waitlisted on July 31st. STERN is supposed to notify us on or before August 1. Hope something comes out early this week.

You're right. I didn't realize that we are only 5 days away from August 1.
And I will probably get my degree earliest in a week. I sent an email to NYU asking them if they could wait for a week to process my application. No replies. Let's see..
That's still 200 seats and only 5 days??? Seems strange.

They admitted a lot last week, but I don't think the database has yet been updated to reflect that. I'm guessing the actual number is in the upper 300s...

I agree. just looked through the admit #'s per week chart in this forum and the final 450+ count is reflected around 8/17 so that also needs to be taken into account.
Hi, I wanted to have the Statistics and Data Analysis Core waived since I have done it at the grad level. I however do not have a statistics degree, which leaves me with having to take the competency exam. Is there anyone else who has similar plans? I'm trying to get details about the competency exam and would appreciate any info(Syllabus/how hard/hours of study needed/experience taking such an exam?....)
I must be a heck of a borderline applicant. Four days left now (if the adcom correctly puts my application in the on-time pile). Wonder what the database count is....I am gonna guess around 350.
Jerseygirl, I don't think you have to feel that way. There are several factors beyond your control that come into play. For instance, they might have received a lot of competitive applications for weekend this year. You have excellent GMAT, more than enough WE and grad level courses to make up for the lower UG GPA. If your essays/reco are strong and you utilized the Essay 4 to explain your UG GPA, I am sure you'd get in. Looks like there are still many seats out there. Be confident and good luck!
