Like many of you here who are going Full Time starting this september, I too will have to leave my job. What are you planning to do? How much notice are you giving? What will you do between your last day and the start of the school year?
I work for a high profile elected official. I plan on giving notice next week and leaving my job Jun 1. I plan on traveling for about two months and then moving to Washington, where I'll be going to Georgetown (almost certain about it). The semester starts mid-August, so i will have time to acquaint myself with the new environment, etc.
I think that by giving my employer ample notice (they have known about the b school process for months), I will keep the lines of communication open. I plan on backing up some data, writing up an exit memo, assisting with the search to find a replacement for me, and finishing up several projects.
Any ideas/tips/stories on what you plan to do?

Notice Given: My company knew I was leaving since I started this process (my bosses and partners all wrote my recs) - I have slowly narrowed my departure date and I gave official notice April 1 to leave April 30
What will I be doing: I am going to be fiscally irresponsible for once in my life and blow a non-trivial amount of my savings to take a 3.5 month trip around the world (China, Japan, SE Asia, Scandinavia, Israel, Greece, and Portugal)
As of now - I'm counting down the days until I leave (23).

I gave my formal notice yesterday. I will be leaving at the end of July. I'd like to leave earlier and travel, but I am married and my wife wouldn't be able to travel with me, so there isn't much point.
My boss knew when I was given my new job that I would be leaving by August, so he wasn't surprised. Upper management was, though. Although I am ready to move on it was a little sad, particularly since I have put together such a great team in the last 4 months.

and put me up for promotion, which is currently under review by a senior manager in a another country. Having said that, it will make little difference to me as i will leave no matter what, because a promotion will not move me towards the direction in career i want to go.
Ever since I was foolish enough to ask for a reco from a guy who couldn't keep his mouth shut
