To those who attended the SS....how many applicants do you think Haas interviewed today for R1 ?
Also, does anyone know how many of those candidates were from the Bay Area, and if anyone on the admissions team indicated the possibility of more interview invites in the coming week(s) before the notification deadline ?

Also, congrats on securing the much elusive Haas interview, and best of luck !!!!!! I am still keeping faith that Haas has yet to extend more invitations, but it is getting harder with each passing day.

hm2009, I'm with you in many ways. Want to get into social enterprise from banking. GPA of 3.5, GMAT of 680 but like you, a compelling story, lots of service, overseas entrepreneureal expereinces etc. etc.

I am beginning to think those stats are what's keeping us out, because as compelling as our stories are, and as significant as our accomplishments may be, there are plenty out with there who did the same and more, but who had 740's and 3.70's.

I'm quitting my 8am-8pm banking job if I don't get into school. Will start following my passion and maybe end up living in car but one thing I've learned through this is that nothing (short of 7 figures) is worth staying at a job you hate.

Best of luck to you, hope we all get in.

I vote for quitting your job and doing what you want! :-D I've been doing it for the last three years, and I think that helped me get the interview on Saturday!

It seems to me that getting an interview after SS would indicate a strong interest on the part of the adcom because they already have a strong sense for the applicant pool and are probably sending interview invites to certain candidates for specific reasons (diversity, balance class profile, etc)

I attended Berkeley's SS event over the weekend and can tell you that the adcom told us that 230 people were invited to interview in Round 1. Of those, I estimate about 80-90 people were in attendance at SS.

Any idea about how many more R1 interviews they will extend?

Congrats and good luck!

I agree, any invites this week would likely mean that the candidate is being strongly considered.

The adcom says they invite anywhere from 20-30% of applicants. So if 230 have been invited so far that means at a 20% interview rate there were 1150 round 1 applications; at the 30% rate there were 766 applicants. So taking a number somewhere between those would indicate apps are down this year (probably not the case), or there are some invites left to go out.

Let's hope...

I agree. Last year they received about 4K application. Given that 20%-30% are generally interviewed, between 800-1200 people were interviewed. Maybe we will see a lot of waitlists.

Last Saturday at the same time they said they had invited 230 people to interview, they said that was 23% of the applications. I don't know if that was an estimate for the easy math, but that was the info given.

Do most of the interview invites go out in the 1st and 2nd round?
