Is there anyone here whose application went under review on or before 10/28? The last person reported that their app went under review on 11/5. Does that mean its game over for those whose were reviewed before that?

I went under 10/20 and got an invite 11/3. My wife also went under 10/20 and got an invite 11/10. I think that invites started to go out 11/1 so if you read back through this thread you can see when some other people went uder review
Whoo! So I'm on the flight back from my UCLA Anderson on-campus trip and I see upon wheels down that I got sent an interview invite from Haas while I'm up on the air!

Congratulations TDA!!!!
When did your file go under review?
Mine went under review 10/28, and I am trying to see if there is much use to still being hopeful
Oh yeah..I faced that messed up paragraph issue too. I fixed to best of my knowledge and I had to spend a lot of time formatting (time that could be used to do some quality checks). The system could be made better for sure
Not sure if recommenders got the same issue. Don't think they would have taken a detailed look like we did...

Ahhh. crap! Now you have me worried. I'll have to follow up with my recommenders to check on it, not that there's much that can be done at this point. I'm guessing Berkeley probably see a few of these, especially from the recommenders.

Maybe I'm naive, but I have a really hard time believing there's much of a correlation between the "under review" date and the order in which they give interview invites. There are a lot of people involved in the review process, so it's probably not that linear. With nearly 6 weeks to go until decision date (and given the fact that they've said they give out invites up until the very end), I think it's way too early for anyone to be freaking out or assuming it's game over.

I have the same fear. Went under review 10/28 . However, a lot of people have mentioned that the application review process is random and that Hass does send invites till quite late in the process. So i am hopeful
I meant the order in which the applications are reviewed

My app went under review on 10/27 too. 36 days and no word from the school ... hmm, they're certainly taking their time.

Did any of the R1 applicants run into this?

Apparently recommenders had the same problem. They had an opportunity to review it before they submitted though so if they did their due diligence they would have caught it.
I called adcom (one of my essays is not readable) and they said I could attach the version and send it to the email and they would match it up - hope that works. Well for recommenders, I have no clue, I am assuming unless they did a copy paste they should be OK? If they typed in the answers in the boxes?
During R1 I called to asked b/c I thought that one of my recommenders was going to be late. They said that as long as they are in w/i a "reasonbable" amount of time it was no big deal (a few days) but after that then they would need to push you back to a later round.

The invite-rate seems to have slowed down a lot.. hope some of us hear before EOD today.

The decision date is in January, I don't see why today would be more just because it was Round 2 yesterday. Maybe it's me and I'm naive about all this, but till you get an answer that is no, isn't it still a possibility? Why stress out over the details?

Thanks for that kelea! I know i have been really pessimistic about this whole thing! I know I should just concentrate on R2 apps instead!

Congrats! Mind sharing when your file went under review?
Congrats to all those with interview calls, hope you all get in.
I'm one of those who's still working hard to get his application ready for Haas, unfortunately, don't know if I can make the december 2 deadline for R2 and am feeling extremely disheartened. I understand and agree with the general wisdom about preferring quality over speed when it comes to applications. And I know, for most schools R1 vs R2 doesn't make a huge difference.
I'm just wondering how it works with berkeley-- since the school has 4 rounds. Obviously earlier is better, but since it has 4 rounds, I'm not sure how to look at R2 vs R3. Is there a significant disadvantage of applying in R3? (like most other schools) or does Haas work differently.
Can anyone can shed some light on this? -- its been giving me sleepless nights. Would be great if a Haas student/ alum could throw some approx intake numbers for each of the rounds.. or just the general trend (say over 80% in R1+R2 or something like that)
Thanks in advance! Ankur
I heard that for schools that have four admission rounds, the first two rounds (R1/R2 or EA/R1) would be the second round in a common 3-rd school. So I don't think for Haas you'd have disavantage.

I didn't understand. Is it that Berkeley's R1+R2 are equivalent to R1 at other schools or R2+R3 are equivalent to R2 at other schools?
