The thing w ADCOM is if they read your profile and like you ..you are invited right away...
but if they don't like your profile..they wait for the "official notice" to ding you...
They read about 200-250 apps/day

That isn't the case at all w/ CBS. They have rolling admissions... tons of people have received interviews, acceptances, dings, and waitlists already while others still haven't been dealt with. They're not holding onto all the to-be-dinged for one massive purge at all from what I can tell -- there isn't even an official release date from what I can tell. I wouldn't be surprised if things moved in "packets," but it simply isn't as structured as other schools with well-defined rounds.

I agree, I don't think we should read too much into the dates. The spreadsheet shows some accepted 3 days after an interview. Some 3-4 weeks. The process is unknown to us, and trying to figure it out is futile. I know, I've tried!

If things moved in packets then there would be 1 of 2 scenarios happening, 1) no one that applied on Oct. 6 would have gotten an invite, much less have been accepted or 2) there would have been invites sent out and all of the rest of the people dinged... considering there have been invites, dings and people who have no idea whats going on.. I would say, they probably read the apps once, invited those who they were immediately interested in, dinged those they were not interested in, and the rest of us are still in limbo maybe?????

I just got an invite from CBS.

When I spoke to an admissions officer during one of their recruitment days, they said they print out the applications in the order they arrive and go through them in order. I applied on the last day of deadline, so those of you who applied around then, you should expect to start to see your interview soon. Good luck

I guess will have to wait at most a week to hear back. I would not be surprised if someone who applied after ED has been invited to interview.

I'm not so sure someone who applied after ED will be invited. They said those apps would be reviewed starting in December. I think they will do a second go around on the ED applicants that warrant a second read.

Hi People!
Long time reader, first time poster.
I got my phone call yesterday. As you'll see in the spreadsheet, my GPA, GMAT and TOEFL iBT scores (3.0; Q49, V34 -> 690; 110) are not exceptional. I was stronger on the EC and the international work experience, and the committee gave it the importance I was hoping for.
This is just a wink at those who are not getting the scores they were hoping for: If you have good stuff to tell about yourself, the numbers are secondary.

Looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible next September, and good luck!

Seconded. I specifically asked adcom at an admissions event if there was any advantage to applying earlier that early December for Regular Decision, and he said the only advantage is that your application would be put higher up in the queue. He made it very clear that regular decision is not going to be reviewed until December.

Guys I think no answer yet for ED applicants (even for those waiting a month+) simply means 'maybe', I don't think it guarantees a ding. I believe the adcom notifies you once the decision is made, I don't think they wait till a notification date to ding people, which the spreadsheet supports.

I remember reading that Columbia has 2 people look at apps. Either one can rec for interview. So if the first passes on your app, the 2nd can still rec for interview. If you have been waiting over a month, perhaps the first person passed on your app, but the 2nd reader might rec for interview. Keep your hopes up!

Also, for those that have interviewed and have not heard back yet, I think adcom is probably waiting to see what other applicants they come across that might fall into the same profile to compare us with. Those that interviewed and were admitted only a few days later probably had such strong profiles that adcom knew they didn't need to wait to compare them to others.

Just my 2 cents.

When did you app gp into review? People who put in their apps on 10/6 have had apps go into review anywhere from 10/8 to 10/22. Mine personally went into review on 10/15

Anybody notice the very high percentage of admits among gmatclub ED applicants that interviewed? The spreadsheet says only 4 were deferred, 1 was denied..all the rest were admitted. This seems strange, but as a guy waiting for an answer after his interview makes me optimistic. Also, I'm on gmatclub.com on Saturday night. Terrible.

One thing that I've noticed is that the data/student profiles on these forums are skewed. There are a lot of lurkers! So I'd take the data w grain of salt!
7K apply to CBS. Hardly 200 are here!
