Nah, I think its about right. Different schools place different weight on the apps vs. the interview. HBS for example is notorious for placing a huge importance on the application itself, thats why most people are dinged without even an interview, but about 80-90% of people who are interviewed are admitted. Columbia on the other hand tends to interview more people, but take a more holistic approach, and probably give more weight to the interview than Harvard does.
