Few questions for the thread readers

1) Have a lot of waitlisters from R1 taken their name off the waitlist for Wharton or is it still about the same size? What's everyone's sense on this?

2) After the 'PE bloodbath' at Harvard, are those folks likely applying to Wharton?

1. Unlikely.
2. Yes.

I do, too. It has been engraved on my mind since my undergraduate days that " If you do Finance, you must go to Wharton".

I am not a finance professional, but Wharton remains one the top BSchool for other career paths too. W is more than just a one trick pony as it is well balanced. Academics, students, clubs, recruiters offer development & opportunities in other careers.

I am surprised by the low level of traffic at W thread compared to CBS, Booth, Ross or Kellogg. So no correlation between applicant numbers and GC posts.

Speaking as someone who was participating in the CBS thread up until quite recently - my impression is that the length of the thread (in comparison to this one) has to do with the rolling admissions process that started very early in the fall. There's only so much we can speculate about until Thursday regarding the Wharton decision. In contrast, on the CBS thread, applicants have been sending in applications, interviewing, and hearing back every week for the past 8 months.

Not sure about Booth/Ross/Kellogg though!

Agreed - it's an amazing school.

This is probably because Wharton has clear deadlines in contrast with some other schools (NYU, CBS, etc.). During the weekends it's also slower. I'm sure that as of Monday lurkers, trolls, new conspiracies and analyses based on historic trends etc. will emerge. Can't wait! :p

In fairness, Booth, Kellogg and Ross released their R2 decisions and there has been a burst of posts as a result of admits or dings. But even prior to release, there were more posts on these threads, just an observation. I think K interviews more applicants from its pool.

I expect more activities at the W thread once R2 decisions are released. But then admitted folks tend to migrate to FB or W S2S threads. the W behavioural questions don't really invite to interview summary and feedback.

Agree that the CBS application cycle (ED, Jan) is a different story, didn't apply to CBS, so no expert here.

Wharton had 2 interview release days and 1 decision date per round. K and B take multiple days for each. Which means people keep talking about B and K far longer than W. Wharton also has a separate Waitlist thread on the forum which means less posts on the main tread. No need for conspiracies. More posts on top 5school threads other than Harvard usually mean more anxiety with the admissions process, which is not necessarily good.

Anyone know the process for Thursday? If you don't get a call during the day is that bad news, or not necessarily? Also what time is the e-mail likely to come in- same time as interview invites (~5pm ET)?

They started doing calls in the morning on the decision day for the first round (morning ET). I didn't get a call but still got in. Most people I know who got in though did get a call.

For first round, the email didn't go out until like 9pm that night. Around 730, extra boxes showed up on the mywharton pages for those who did get in (labeled official transcript and deposit received).

Hope that helps.

I agree. In Booth's thread, those waitlisted keep pouring in and discussing. People kept guessing on why Booth waitlisted more applicants than normal this year. Besides, the number of posts during the 27 days that Booth released interview invites were massive :-D. The anxiety level in Booth thread, IMO, was higher than in this thread.

I came away from my interview feeling like it could not have gone any better. When I got home and told people about it, I got a couple weird reactions that went something like this:

"Well, they are a world class school...they prob want to make every candidate feel good about their interview so that the candidate always correlates that positive experience with Wharton."

Talk about debbie downer. Anyone else have an opinion on this one? Good luck to everybody on Thursday. I said it after the interview and I have to repeat it now, "I put forward my best possible application, and now it's out of my hands."

I'm in Europe. Wharton calls some people (also international), but this is probably a minority of all admitted students. I wouldn't wait by the phone all day.

The email should be sent by 5 pm EST at the latest. In R1 it was 9pm EST but this was an exception as something likely went wrong.
