Could you mind explaining what "2 (or 3) deviation below/above mean' means? I could apply formula to solve such question but I don't really understand the nature of the problem?

The standard deviation of a set is some number as well as the mean. We are told that 3 standard deviations below the mean is greater than 43. 3 standard deviations below the mean is {Mean} - 3*{SD}, which we are told that is greater than 43.

Hope that similar questions given here will help to understand better.

If the standard deviation of a normal distribution is 2, then 3 standard deviations below the mean would be -3 * 2 = -6 units from the mean.

Given that this value is greater than 43, we can set up the inequality:

mean - 6 > 43

Solving for the mean:

mean > 43 + 6
mean > 49

Therefore, a possible value for the mean of the distribution is any value greater than 49.

Among the given options, the possible value for the mean is (E) 50.

I found the wording of the question very confusing. The parallelism in the question confused me for a while.
