I think you guys carried on a great discussion on this. I, too, personally would come clean but that's a personal choice. As midwest indicated, when you get to that part of the interview it's really a tightrope you'll be walking on. Should you tell or should you not tell? Not telling is indirectly lying, but telling may seem otherwise. I'd just hate to be put in a position later on if I ever have to discuss why I neglected to mention this during interview.
As I said, I wud stick to my original strategy if the change almost coincides with the interview.
I would tell you about my situation. Would love to get see what you guys suggest. I am applying to BSchools to keep my options open i.e. to continue as an entrepreneur or to get back into finance. I had a job for few yrs before I decided to start a company. Company doing well but certain situation led me to believe that it is better if I go out and do my MBA - so I can get back to my company if I feel that is the best thing to do or I can build a career in finance after the MBA. I cant say that either A or B is my goal in my app (I gotta have a solid direction and not just write my options) and therefore I decided to stick to most natural next step i.e. biz expansion. In the meanwhile I also decided to find a new job. Now, in my interview I obviously was sticking with my app strategy of entrepreneurial goals because my new job was not decided. Now, I have the job offer and I am done with one of the interviews. So, at this point should I update ad-com about my current work? They normally say that they don't welcome any updates on application unless an applicant is WL'std. Now, the complex part - what if I get an interview from Darden in coming weeks and schedule one say 10 days after joining my new job. Now, at this point the new job will signal a direction that is completely opposite of what I have written on my app. I myself been wondering how I would tackle this situation. I even trying to see if I can delay my joining date at the job by few weeks just to make sure I do not end up being dishonest or unethical.
