Yeah, exactly the same. Changed the date and got back an email saying the date is December 16.

Hi guys, i'm looking for some advice here. Thinking of applying in R3, but not sure of my chances and if its even worth applying this late. I'm a manager with a big 4 accounting firm in DC (made mgr. in 4 yrs v/s 5/6), GMAT = 680, 5 yrs of Big-4 work exp, undergrad gpa = 3.9 (summa cum laude), have a CPA and 2 expat assignments to India along with decent extra curriculars. I'm just concerned if its better to apply in R1 next year or R3 this yr? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a certain reason to applying round 3 for you? If there's no real urgency, I'd wait until round 1. Here's my reasoning:
based on what you wrote, you too know that round 3 is a doom round for most applicants. By round 3, most of the classes have been filled and the AdComs are probably looking for someone who will bring in a very unique perspective about his/her industry and while you definitely have the name brand (big 4 acct) and your GPA is extraordinary (GMAT is good but if you can retake it and get a 700+, you're in the running for the ultra-elite business schools), chances are Darden has already filled a lot of accounting quota in round 1 and round 2, where students traditionally apply to the most. If you apply round 3 and fail to gain admission, you would then have to deal with the "re-app" essay come round 1 and truthfully speaking, it's a little hard to gain additional insight/responsibilities between April and October. So I say that you save your chance for round 1 for the class of 2014.

I don't agree with the above posts- just go for it! Looking back, if I had a viable chance of completing my application and starting studies a year earlier, I would have taken that. I mean - what can you lose? In case you can improve your gmat, you will have a bunch of other schools to apply to and if things do not go your way, you will know how to improve your application when reapplying.

Just do it! :)

Quick question for anyone who has already completed their Darden interview. When you are asked to talk about yourself, or your "life story", are you given a time frame? I have heard conflicting reports ranging from 20-40 minutes. What was your experience?

I was given 40-50 minutes when I started my interview. It was the easiest interview I've ever had to do. Just know yourself and why the school would help you. They are looking to know what you will bring to the classroom and your classmates in a highly colaborative environment.

I agree. It was the best interview ever. I was given 40-50 min and finally 10 min for Q&As. I talked the whole time. I could say that if for some reason you end up saying your "story" for 20 min, then I would assume that the interviewer might ask you some additional questions to find out more about you. Overall, it will be 50 minutes but you pick how to spend them.

I'm not sure about how the skype interviews work but normally the interviews are done blind. It allows the interviewer to really get to know you in the short time they have with you.

See my post on how to prepare for the interview and sample questions that can be found on the web: darden-university-of-virginia-104080.html

Good luck!
