edemlaw, I stayed at the Cavaliers Inn. It's a quaint little hotel, run by Darden's endowment (I think? Correct me if I'm wrong). Anyway, the hotel is pretty close to Darden grounds, but a car is still required. It's just a quick drive to town and very close to the main UVA grounds. I liked it, overall, but the room itself does look a bit run down.

oO, and it was $50/night...not too shabby from where I hail from...

I don't remember the names of the hotels. The first night I stayed at an old smokey smelling motel close to campus because the nicer one off campus near Wal-Mart was full and/or expensive. I forgot which one. The second night I stayed at the nicer hotel that was booked for me at Discover Darden. I had an amazing time with the folks at Darden. That school wined and dined us in pristine surroundings. I'll be fortunate if they admit me. Okay that was way more words than necessary to answer your question. Sorry.

I just finished a day at Darden. I interviewed, took school tour, sat in on class and had lunch with several Darden 1st years and professors.

Interview: Standard Darden interview - "Tell me your story (30 min. monologue), Why MBA?, Why Darden?" It was conducted by a second year.
Class Visit: This was BY FAR the best class visit of the 6 schools I have visited. The class was on decision analysis and was VERY interactive and lively. I can see why Darden is ranked #1 out of all MBA programs for teaching/faculty. Personally I get much more out of the case method than the traditional professor lecture.
Campus Tour: Really impressive grounds/buildings. I particularly liked the fact that the Darden School/campus is ONLY MBA, which means there are no undergrad business majors there creating more traffic--they have their own business school on the main UVA campus. There are several buildings, open space, patio's/outdoor tables...best of all was the weather - Sunny and 70F!
Lunch: Q&A with First year students and professors sitting at our table. Very informal and open.

My summary: Darden's stock went WAY up for me on this trip. I don't want to put any other school down because they are all excellent choices, but Darden went above and beyond my expectations.

Now for the long wait until D-Day (3/24)...

Thanks all.

I'm staying at the darden ground inn- the executive sponsor..... the name's too long. I think I'm paying 80/night. You're not missing much by not staying at this place. It's nothing special.

I went out for a quick run in my shorts (as someone mentioned, it was 70F)- night lighting is as beautiful as the day scenes. :) I'm super excited about tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

I'm international and had my interview with alumni. It was pretty relaxed, though longer than usual. It lasted about 1.5 hours as I talked in details about my previous experience. The interview started with the usual "Tell me about yourself", followed by goals, why mba and why Darden. Finished with asking several questions about her experience. Darden people are really great and very kind! :-D

I agree. I LOVED Darden. I loved the students, the classes, the professors, and the case method. Moreover, every student seemed like they were learning an immense amount, and very engaged in their classes.

Hey guys,

I got an invite on the 14th of Feb at around 11.40 am EST. Phew!

I'm a Indian(Bangalore)/IT - Consulting and BD/5 years/760

Best of luck to the guys who are waiting! I'm sure they are still releasing more calls in the weeks to come.

Hopefully so. I am bored of waiting for the invite now. Was quite keen on Darden. :(

I interviewed at Darden Friday and it was a great experience. I stayed with a friend which was great since I got to go with him to a Finance class, I definitely liked the case method although I am sure the first semester is pretty crazy with it + recruiting

It has a great vets community and for any vets applying on here - Kathleen Grant is awesome, she is our POC in the office, stop in and talk to her on your interview day (if you have not already done yours)

Like Rpratt said, Darden just leapfrogged nyu and yale for me. I interview at Wharton next week and if I do not get in, its Darden for me for sure.

Awesome school

Does anyone know who the major employers are for Darden? I've trying to dig that out somewhere online but can't seem to find it. On Darden's site, it only posted a spreadsheet of all its employers from 2008 to 2010. Basically, I'm trying to find out the influence of M/B/B on Darden grounds.

Evidently it's not too much. https://www.forbes.com/lists/2009/95/bes ... ia-(Darden)_950013.html

those firms aren't mentioned at the above link for Darden but are for several other schools
