"had" is the key. D and E left.
E "lessening" is wrong. it has to be "less" commitment.

D remains.

@mydreambschool: Your questions suffer from redundancy in that they have been thoroughly dissected and discussed already in this forum. ‘amma4u’ is absolutely correct in his observation on this matter. The right place to look for will be the Gprep folder< gmatprepsc-105446.html>.

Further, a question that is just an attachment may receive poor response. If your questions are already expanded and expressed, they stand a better chance to be noticed.

In this sentence 'commitment to work' is compared between young people and their parents and grand parents.

A, B and C compares 'commitment to work' directly to 'parents and grand parents'. - this is wrong comparision

Between D and E- lessing of commitment is awkward , so D is right.
