That sounds like a solid plan, and honestly, taking 6–8 months off before starting your MBA can actually be valuable if you use it well. Future employers usually don’t mind short gaps when there’s a clear purpose behind them — reflection, travel, or personal development. If you can show that the time helped you gain perspective, adaptability, or even cross-cultural exposure (like teaching English abroad), it can become a strong talking point during interviews.

Just make sure to frame it as a period of growth rather than just time off. Many MBA candidates take similar breaks for travel or skill development before starting school, and it rarely hurts long-term prospects — especially if you’ve had consistent experience and promotions like you mentioned.
