Hello everyone, I sincerely apologize if my question comes off as something which is common knowledge for most of you and hence, appears useless. I have so far attempted the GMAT Focus Official Practice Exams 3 & 4 over the past two days after preparing for 3 months and intend to also do 5 & 6 in the coming week before giving the final exam somewhere in the beginning of next week. What has caused me confusion is that yesterday, I obtained a
685 (740) score with a 81st percentile in Quant where I got 5 questions wrong, 98th in DI where I got 5 wrong and 96th in Verbal where I got 4 wrong.
Today, I tried to work in a better manner hoping to rectify my mistakes and I felt I did that while solving the exam and was therefore expecting that from the final result but it left me flabbergasted. This time I got 2 wrong in DI but dropped down to 96th, 3 wrong in Quant yet stayed at 81st, Verbal was almost the same but even more surprisingly, my final score dropped to
675 (730).
I would really appreciate if you guys couls help me understand how to interpret this result. If you want, I could share more details about the reports but would really appreciate some clarity on this matter as this has left me really worried about how this algorithm works and how it may impact me on my exam day and any tricks I should follow to circumvent these kind of anomalies because I am really dead set on a score of at least 740 (when I started thinking of GMAT, the old edition was still going on so that sort of stuck in my head as the benchmark I need to ace from what I gathered about my choice of schools).
Since I have already said the last thing, as a side request, would be really grateful if someone could also verify whether schools actually use GMAC's conversion table for Old->Focus scores like I have been while preparing or new benchmarks/cutoffs are likely to have been put in place.
Looking forward to your responses. Thank you very much in advance.
