Wanted to share my experience using
Target Test Prep in preparation for the GMAT in the end of 2024. I work for a consulting firm that requires heavy hours, so I knew I'd have to be pretty selective about how I spent my free time studying (I mostly studied on flights twice a week and for 2-3 hours most Saturdays). I was recommended
TTP by a friend who swore by it, but the price tag initially scared me off. After thinking about it, I decided it was worth paying up for a top-tier program and purchased the six month course.
I was initially taken aback by the sheer volume of practice materials available and it took me a few days to figure out how to use everything. Once I got in a rhythm of working through the lessons and practice tests, I realized I probably only had to focus on the quantitative materials. The ability to cherry pick the lessons and topics over the course of six months was essential for me. I didn't have much time to practice things I was already good at and knew I had to really 80/20 my preparation.
My six months ran out and I still didn't feel ready, so I bought an extra month of quantitative practice and really doubled down. After seven months, I took the test and got a 705 and didn't feel like I'd performed my best (I had to take the test at 6am and was a bit groggy). This was satisfactory for what I needed so I never retook it.
Based on my experience, I actually felt like I spent more time than I needed to. I felt overprepared for the test as I was taking it, for which
TTP deserves a lot of credit. Their gauge of which questions were "easy", "medium", and "hard" was generally accurate and I appreciated that I was able to increase my knowledge over time by starting with the easy questions and move on to the tougher ones as I got close. I will say, their program might leave a little to be desired in the calibration department. Although feeling overprepared is a great feeling, I wish I would have known during the program that I was probably ahead of where I needed to be. I also think a more thorough diagnostic at the beginning of the program would have helped me better prepare for the actual test experience.
All things considered, this is a great program for someone that wants to take the GMAT seriously. Definitely spend some time figuring out what you want to improve on so that you can tailor the program to your needs (ideally you've already taken the GMAT and can plan accordingly).
