(1) Cars A and B traveled the entire distance at the rates of 48 miles per hour and 44 miles per hour, respectively.
(2) The car traveling faster burned more gasoline per mile.

Question : Car A use more gasoline than Car B?

Given : Total distance = 200 miles

St. 1 : This gives us both cars take to travel 200 kms. No info about gasoline. Not Sufficient

St. 2 : This gives us info about consumption of gasoline but incompletely. Not Sufficient

Using both we get :

Car A uses more gasoline than Car B.

(C) Sufficient

Statement 1:
Car A traveled faster .......Insufficient as no info about gasoline used.
Statement 2:
Car traveling faster burned more gasoline .......Insufficient as no info which car traveled faster
Combining both,
Car A used more gasoline than B
Sufficient

Hence, OA is (C).

Two cars, A and B, each traveled a distance of 200 miles. Did car A use more gasoline than car B?

(1) Cars A and B traveled the entire distance at the rates of 48 miles per hour and 44 miles per hour, respectively.
NOT SUFFICIENT. We don't know anything about usage of gasoline.

(2) The car traveling faster burned more gasoline per mile.
NOT SUFFICIENT. W don't know about the speed of cars.

Combining both 1 and 2, SUFFICIENT.
From 1 we can find the speed, and 2 says that car travelling faster burned more gasoline per mile, so we can find the answer.

COORECT ANSWER: C
