I got an admit from UCD Smurfit with a 50% scholarship . Will most probably join the course . Heard that the job prospects in Ireland is good especially for people from IT back ground . Taking the cost factor into account , I think Smurfit would be a better option when compared with the US B Schools . I am looking forward to working in Ireland post my MBA. . Hope things go well . You will get 1 year stayback in Ireland once you complete the course so that you can search for a job . Did you apply for intake this year ?

I heard that IT related job openings are limited and highly selective and during my interview they enquired about my interest in pharma companies.

I am not sure about the actual situation but I got information from some Smurfit alumni about job openings in IT sector . I have some relatives settled in Ireland and I got similar response from them too .

I have decided to go for it, 2015 intake . I think Its a good option even without scholarship considering the cost factor for similar schools in the US. Do you have any idea for marketing/finance job prospects in the country? .

Hi Nitin

I too have the admit with 50 percent scholarship. I also have an offer from Mays business school Texas with scholarship close to 60%.
I have made the initial deposit, but I have still not decided. Most of the people have been suggesting me US. But I am still doing my research. Can you tell me how good is Ireland from mobility perspective?

From a mobility perspective , I guess US would be a better option . There will be several positive and negative aspects that you need to weigh while selecting a b school . Finally ,it is upto you what to decide . :)

Hi,

I'm planning to apply for Smurfit Sept 2016 intake. Can anyone help me on the below questions:

1) With the below details, can you please let me know whether I'm eligible for a English language test waiver ?
FYI - 1) My GMAT score is 660 (Q-45 V-36 AWA-5.5 IR-6) and CGPA is 3.8/4 (8.8/10)
2) All my education including my 4 year engineering course (Madras Institute of Technology, Anna University) has been in English;
3) I took IELTS on 25/08/2010 and my overall score is 7.0
4) I have worked with English speaking clients - in London, UK close to 1 year, and in Stockholm,Sweden for 15 months

2) W.r.to the scholarships, what is the maximum % of tuition fee waiver can I expect/eligible (please note my GMAT score is less than 700 and most of the scholarships they offer is only for a score above 700) ?

3) what about the IT job opportunities in Ireland ?

Many thanks in advance for your replies.

Apart from the GMAT based scholarships, there are a few other scholarships available too. The value of these scholarships range from 25% to 50% of the total fees. For more information on the scholarships, you may follow the link : https://www.smurfitschool.ie/scholarships/mba/ .

The IT sector in Ireland looks good. Seems there are many opportunities available.

Thanks Nitin I will check it out. Is there any possible input you can provide on my language waiver question ? I have also asked the admissions committee but haven't got any reply from them.

Well, I had asked the same question last year. :) So I'm almost sure you'll have to take an English language test (IELTS or TOEFL) again. But its better that you wait for their reply and then decide.
