Whenever I am reading a paragraph in RC section, I can understand the meaning of each and every word but whenever a difficult paragraph comes, I find it hard to understand what is author trying to tell even if I know the words. I have to go through it for a couple of times to get a good understanding.
Any tips/suggestions to solve this problem would be great.

Try to make a passage map of what you are reading.
For each paragraph, write 10 - 20 words. Write the information provided and the main point of the paragraph.
In this way, you will be able to understand the passage properly.
Also pay attention to the tone of the author. this will help you understand the connotation of the author.

The issue lies in the statement you made --- it sounds as if you are trying to ready every single word -- no!
Not only is that inefficient, but all the different words will reduce your ability to get a sense of what the general big picture is. Move your eyes faster and be selective about what you focus your attention on.

Focus on the transition words and force yourself to be super-excited about the boring passage. Your heightened emotion will help you better retain what you read.
