Hi Friends,
I've received admission from the 2 univ's and need to reach a decision at the earliest: University of Pittsburgh, Katz and California State University, Fullerton.
Could you please share with me your honest opinions that would help me decide between the 2 universities?Info about Katz
1) Ranked University program
2) Placement assistance (on and off-campus) for international students is good
3) Separate assistance for H1B-processing for International students
4) Statistics available for internship and job placements
5) Able to get connected with current students and receive first-hand feedback
6) Class strength is good (100+, I think)
7) Program is 20 months long, finishing in April 2017
8) I can apply for H1B visa under the
Student category, only once in Apr 2018, failing which, I have to return to my home country, unless I (hopefully) get a university job.
Alternately, I hope to be able to apply for H1B visa
before graduating, in April 2017 (under the
General category of 65K)
Info about CSUF
1) Not ranked in top 100
2) MBA program is relatively new (<10 yrs)
3) Placement center exists, but haven't heard of on-campus placement
4) Placement report for internships or jobs not available
5) Have not been able to get connected to past students yet even after trying
6) Class strength is very low (~20 FT students in 2015 intake. Rest would be part-time students)
7) Location is good (~6 hrs from San Francisco)
8) Program is accelerated, 16 months - finishing in Dec 2016
9) Program is STEM designated. This means I can remain on OPT visa for 29 (=12+17) months, and apply for H1B visa thrice.
My profile:
I have 10+ yrs experience in one of the most reputed MNC Tech firms in India and am in a management level position. I already possess a specialized-Masters degree. It is important for me to stay back in the US atleast for some years after my degree.Could you please let me know your thoughts on the above universities, esp from a job perspective? I have the impression that career services at Katz will be much stronger than CSUF, and that I would probably have to relocate to the Bay area to continue my job search in California, if I graduate from CSUF.
( I'm not bringing finances into the discussion, as education cost would more or less the same ).
Could you pls share some feedback on
Job prospects for each location, level of compensation, reputation of the School etc?
Many thanks for an early response!!
