In contrast to X, Y
and
Unlike X, Y

In both above cases X and Y must be parallel.
D is correct choice with no error.

Reputaion being a singular noun, isnt the use of ‘those’ in option D cause a subject verb error?

I believe a wordy statement E would be much more preferable over the disagreement in D.

Can someone please clarify on this….

Thanks,
Srikanth

As an example:

The suitcases of A, B and C were stolen
signifies that each of A,B,C had their own separate suitcases were stolen. Thus suitcases(plural)

The suitcase of A,B and C was stolen
signifies that A,B,C, together had one suitcase

Agree Srikanth. D definitely does not look like a great construct, more so from a "pronoun" perspective than from "subject verb" perspective.
